Lobos island · Corralejo

A day without cars in Europe? It's possible on the island of Lobos! Take the ferry in the morning at the port of Corralejo, best book your ticket in advance at Nortour. First thing to do at your arrival is walk to the little village to reserve your place in the restaurant. This is the only place to eat on the island so the capacity is limited. They serve great fresh fish and paella in a typical setting, correct price. Good for snorkelling, a beach day and hiking around the island. Best go when the high tide is between 11 and 16h, so the lagoons look nicer. Take a lot of suncream because there is no shadow!




Dunes  · Corralejo

A stretch of 8 km sand dunes starting at the south of Corralejo looking over the deep blue ocean and the island of Lobos. In the middle you will find the highest dunes: don't hesitate and let yourself roll downhill! Or bring your bodyboard to speed down... 




Volcano Calderon Hondo · Lajares

Visit the volcano of Lajares. This is one of the most perfect circular craters on the Canaries. From up there you also have views on Lanzarote, the dunes of Corralejo and El Cotillo. Walking up 1 hour, walking down 1 hour. At the peak you will find a wooden balcony which gives a view into the crater.  Walk up from the north side and walk back from the south side to have two different views. Don't leave the trail, only go up to the crater when you reach the stone stairs who leads you straight to the balcony. Less crowded in the afternoon.



Hand Craft market · Lajares

Weekly hand craft market in the center of Lajares. Every Saturday from 10:00 till 14:00h. Sometimes with live music or dj and animation for children.

Day trip to Betancuria & Ajuy

A good day trip is the following, leaving in the morning:

· From the north of the island, passing Tefía drive to Betancuria. Just before arriving at Betancuria you have first a nice lookout called 'Mirador Morro de la Cruz' and a bit further another one with two giant statues. Then you can visit the little village of Betancuria which is the old capital of the island. 'La Sombra' is a nice place to eat or drink something.

· Now drive to Ajuy, on the road you can stop at a few nice lookouts. In Ajuy you will find typical fish restaurants. There is a dark sand beach and you have a nice walk on the eroded cliffs and caves at the right side of the beach.

· On the way back, after 5 km enter at the left in a little vilage who is called ‘Buen Paso’. Drive till the end till you see a nice cañon with palm trees. The name of this place is 'Barranco de las Peñitas'. This zone has been used a lot for movies, for example 'Eternals' by Marvel with Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek was one of the last movies there in 2019. Or 'Exodus' whit Christian Bale in 2013. 
At the end of the cañon you will find a water dam and a tiny chapel called 'Ermita de la Peña'. And at 300 meter north of the cañon you will still find a very nice arc called 'Arco de las Peñitas', be careful hiking on wet and windy days!

· Driving back home, but now from Antigua, this is an easier and straight road and with different views.




Lagoons  · El Cotillo

Fuerteventura is very known for his waves all around the island, but if you are not a fan of surfing or if you have little children, then this is the place to be! Especially splendid on light wind days. Very good accessibility from the parking lot till the shore. Great sunsets!




Majanicho & Northshore

Majanicho is a tiny old fishers village where you are thrown back in time. Nice sand beach in the center of the village. From here you can drive on the earth track to El Cotillo or Corralejo along the surf spots o the North Shore. Sometimes the track is a bit bumpy but it's worth doing it once! Nicer views when the tide is mid or high. Depending on the wind and waves you might witness some surf action.
